Painting an empty shop in Warners Bay
In April 2026 I repainted an empty shop in Warners Bay, on the lake side of Munibung Hill.
Here's how the job went, with the photos.
What was the job?
The shop was empty when I got there: a long open space with a glass shopfront at one end and a small kitchen area at the back, a suspended ceiling with downlights, and a timber-look floor.
The walls are finished in light grey, with the columns and bulkheads in white.
How did it go?
An empty shop is the easiest kind to paint. With no stock, shelving or customers, every wall is easy to reach and there is no trading to work around.
Prep came first, like on every job: sand, fill, prime, then paint. Under bright shop lighting a patch that isn't sanded flat shows from the front door, so the filling and sanding got the most time.
Painting a shop between tenants
If you own or manage a shop, the gap between one lease and the next is the time to repaint. Tell me the date the old tenant is out and the date the new one gets the keys, and the job is planned to fit in between.
A light, plain colour on the walls gives the next tenant a clean start for their own fit-out. If they already have brand colours, send the colour codes and the paint is tinted to match.
